Online Dating Has Changed How We Interact
In order for my OK Cupid profile to be 75% complete I have to write something in my journal that is suitable for everyone there to see. A little invasive I think. I thought the site was meant to connect people, not one to peer deep inside each person's mind.
While I think the OK Cupid website has a unique idea to bring to the dating game, and there are lots of users, it has totally failed me. I have never met anyone from there and I honestly have lost faith in internet dating sites. I began using them when they first appeared because I work online. I have seen them go from rejected ideas about dating to commonplace in the whole dating scene.
Before the internet people would largely meet in person, by speaking actual spoken words.
Steve Jobs Doesn’t Want a Porn Store
![]()
While browsing the net on my iPhone I ran into an article on TechCrunch that was centered around Steve Jobs' comment as to why Apple doesn't want to allow unsigned apps onto the iPhone. For clarity, an unsigned app simply means an app that was not acquired via the app store, and therefore not Apple-approved.

All too often I see this happening.
The comments at the end of the article are what got me involved. There was the usual Church of Apple followers, the Apple Bashers, those who demand more from manufacturers and then - this is what got me - those who were pushing the point of view that says shut up and take it. Acquiescence is a horribly dangerous mindset, in my opinion.

I have a few thoughts surrounding this topic, so I commented. Here's my comment:
Sorry, I Work in Porn – We Can’t Be Friends
For those of us who work in the adult entertainment industry it can be hard to meet people outside of the industry, unless we keep our occupational details to ourselves until the person has gotten to know us better. It's not often that I run into people who can understand that my job is a job and not much more than that. The media demonizes the adult industry and sexual acts yet at the same time throws sex in our faces
every chance it gets. It makes me wonder why people aren't running to adult industry professionals for a fix of some kind after the mainstream media has gotten them all excited.
If you listen to most rap music lyrics you will find that it's a verbal rendition of porn videos. Rock music doesn't get away scott-free either, but rap is much more prone to it. I'm a rap fan so I am not some pompous white kid talkin out my ass either. I am not writing about the sexualization of society by the media - I could, but not right now. Just jump onto youtube and type sexy commercials to get started.
Hello, I’m a Pedophile: RESPONSE
I ran into a forum I had not seen before while googling for something - I don't even remember what now. While on the site I saw a thread titled, "Hello, I"m a Pedophile"
I read the first post, thought for a moment, then read the rest. While reading I began to write my reply in TextEdit, and when I got to the end of the post I realized the thread was locked. Naturally.
Well, as I usually do, I post my writings here. Here's the thread, followed by my unposted comment:
Voting for Child Porn
I was strolling through GFY (an industry board - if you don't know it then you're not in the industry) the other day when I ran into a thread where someone was asking for input on their new site. I looked and wasn't impressed. Not because the site was poorly done but because the content appeared to be composed of minors. Now, consider that I know the game. So for me to think that these girls are under age is no vote of confidence for your site, however if that's your target I suppose he nailed it. Which was the case because the website was feeding the 18 market. In his defense he hasn't done anything wrong - the content came from sponsors who all have the proper 2257's needed.
Still, I commented on the thread:
"I don't like to see children when I hit a porn site.
That's just me though."
I was simply voicing my opinion on the appearance of the content, and not stating that the content was in face children. Had I honestly believed the content WAS children I would have taken every step I could think of to make sure the site went offline.
Tories Target Child Porn With New Bill

So here's the talking point that smooths this over and gives everyone that feel good feeling:
"The federal government is cracking down on online child pornography with new legislation that imposes stiff fines or jail time for internet service providers that fail to report illicit material involving minors."
From experience, I can say that this is a waste of time, and an insult to anyone even remotely close to this. When I was working at XTube I ran into more child porn than I care to remember, and I certainly did not just sit on it and hope nothing would happen. I reported it. Would you like to know what reporting it got me? Reporting it got me nothing. Nothing accomplished. Nothing. Even after I had established lines of communication with law enforcement.
In fact, it was so worthless to report to them that I began to wonder if they were involved in the whole child porn business. It made me so damn angry - Correction - it STILL makes me so damn angry! I asked our lawyer what he thought of the situation - me reporting all of these violations against humanity - and he said something I hadn't even considered. He said that they're not responding to you because they're possibly building a case against you.
Scattered Thoughts on Sex, Porn and Growing Up
The internet seems to have been invented specifically to enable pornography a chance to become a common household item/idea/topic. Imagine where porn would stand today had the internet NOT come along at all. Would it still be limited to books, magazines and videos? Only available in stores willing to carry adult material - you know the ones - big red letters blaring, "ADULT" and "XXX" over top of poorly blacked out windows (usually covered by big sheets of sun-bleached paper), tucked away in the corners of plazas or on the far side of town, carefully placed where almost no one can see you come and go. Actually, that's not entirely accurate anymore - I've seen several directly neighboring children's stores. Perhaps that's a powerful indicator of the state of porn today. Porn is so common, so accepted, and even expected, that a triple x video store can be situated right beside a second-hand children's clothing store and no one notices.
I remember when I was in high school (in the mid-90's) looking at the girls in the school -they were drastically more conservative when compared to the school girls of today's teenage girls, who dress to display their sexual attributes.
Students told they have a ‘right’ to a good sex life: Advice from the NHS
This is my response to : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1199132/NHS-recommends-pupils-orgasm-day-reduce-risk-heart-attack-stroke.html where the idea of promoting sexual pleasure to students is being pushed by Steve Slack, director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health at NHS Sheffield. Read that before you read this.
Teen Sex
The problem with teens is they simply do not have the ability to control their emotions.
It is not that they cannot enjoy sex or cannot do it responsibly, it is the simple fact that when they're horny they're going to do whatever they can reason to get off. If that means skipping the condom then so be it.
This guy wants everyone to enjoy healthy sex and that's fine as we would all agree, so they're rationing that teaching them to enjoy it is a good idea to level the playing field and make room for more stable decision making outside of peer pressure. I argue this will create a new type of peer pressure because this line of thinking goes right next to, "But my friend bobby has transformers shoes, why can't I!?" Instead we'll hear, "But Jane has a box of her own condoms, why can't I!?" And at school, "You haven't let him watch you masturbate yet? What's Wrong with you? Everyone's doing it, so should you."
When you teach a kid about something they now know it's there. Duh, that's the point of teaching, right? True, but there are times to teach things. Consider suicide prevention talks at schools. When those happen kids now realize that depressed kids hang themselves. It presents their fragile minds with new ideas and suicides go up. Look it up for yourself. The same is true for STP prevention talks. When those happen teen pregnancies go up, STD cases go up and so-on. These things put new ideas into their minds, and those minds are not ready to make decisions on these topics.
Response to Betty Dodson’s blog entry, “My Latest Thoughts on Porn”
Let me open my response to Betty Dodson's blog entry, "My Latest Thoughts on Porn" (http://dodsonandross.com/sexfeature/my-latest-thoughts-porn) by saying that I am a man who has been working in the online adult business since 2001. I think I know a little about porn, from a man's perspective.
The women in professional porn are not real in terms of appearance and mentality. Women do not look like that naturally and they certainly do not act like that in reality either. It is important to understand, as Betty said, that porn is fantasy. It is created by men, for men. It is composed of men's ideas and interests, filmed at the sexpense of the actresses willing to do these things for the money tabled.

Email From a Father...
Today someone reported their daughter to me for being on the adult website I work with. This is the first time I have received such an email. The first time a parent contacted me was when I worked at XTube - a father found his son, who he learned at that very moment, was Gay. Things like that happened a few times while there but nothing since. Usually it’s a morally correct person reporting suspected minors. Here is their message and my response:
INCOMING EMAIL:
I want these photos removed, this is my daughter, she is only 15 years old. These photos should not even be on here. Please remove them.
